There is an old-fashioned notion that artists are solitary creatures, working alone, often at night… in an attic… but nothing could be further from the truth.
Artists have ALWAYS been part of the community, exploring and reflecting on the world around them, working in tandem with other artists and quite often rallying the community to be part of the artwork – think Renaissance portraits, the Impressionists and projects such as Steve McQueen’s Year 3 project at Tate Modern.
Artists like to share their passion and over at Firstsite you can download an art activity pack created by some of the big names in contemporary art including Bob and Roberta Smith, Anthony Gormley and Gillian Wearing.
The first pack is available to download now and comes in at a whopping 21 pages of fantastic ideas that will keep the whole household busy and on their creative toes including designing an album cover, making cut paper statues, portraits and performance projects.
Which one will you do first? Share in the FB group.
